The Aluminium Tube

Category: Uncategorized
All aboard the aluminium tube and we’re off to Melbourne for the weekend. In one way I wanted to head down to the hallowed pre-season training grounds Cadel Evans in Barwon Heads. This was not to be as we where off to catch up with some good mates and get to know the recent addition to their family.

At this point I must add that I lived in Melbourne for two years, I love this city. It’s a mix of cultures, cuisines along with the old and new side by side. You find yourself walking down lane ways and across suburbs where no two roads look and feel the same.

We hung out in Fitzroy and had a few coffees on Brunswick street. Now Fitzroy is like no other suburb, it’s has an alternate style with an great array of vegetarian restaurants and a large number of the lesbian community. By no means where they the Swedish Lesbian that any man would prefer to see, these where your run of the mill… let’s say physically challenged types.

The bicycle culture is alive and well in Melbourne. Where ever you looked there people cruising around on bikes, I was amazed that most of them where riding around with no helmets. While kicking back and enjoying a latte, Mr Twisters… so named due to his jumped he was wearing rolled past us for the first of many time, didn’t manage to get the camera out in time to catch him carrying a guitar amplifier but here he is on a return trip.

As this was a brief 48 hour weekend trip our time in Melbourne was over and back in the aluminium tube heading home. The trip back sucked as the air-con onboard the plane was non-existent. To say I was glad to be off the plane would be an understatement.
