Where have I been you ask?

Well the Tour is over, I now find myself kicking around the house with nothing to do. I call it the July fever hangover. July is my time to take up residence on the couch, No Training (It’s winter anyway in Oz).

For the past month I have been in a limited sleep pattern. My day starts early with a long day in the office, home just in time to catch the 6pm (30min) highlights package. Of course I have already watched the in-depth interviews and video diaries from a few of the pro’s along with the 4 min long highlights video streams. The Internet does make like easy!

After the 6pm Highlights it’s getting dinner out of the way along with the nightly course… I hate doing the dishes! Just sucks.

After that it’s on the web to chase up some info for work and which ever project I’m running around in circles on. At 9:30 or 10pm depending on the stage it’s “Tour Time”. 10pm - 2am, if I make it through the stage, I normally wake up to see the final chat from the presenters, this in turn has me skipping back on the recording to actually catch the last 30 mins of the boys heading into the finish. So 2:30am I stagger off to bed for the same again the next day.

I find it amazing that for someone like me that love his sleep can become the complete opposite and excel on next to know sleep.

I’ll be posting my tour update an an Open letter to Cadel over the next week. There are also some plans to attend the 2009 Tour in person! I still have the FEVER!

Cadel wears the Yellow

Cadel Evans became the fifth Australian to claim the Tour de France leader’s yellow jersey after finishing eighth in the 10th stage in the Pyrenees. It’s a proud day (well early morning for us in Oz) to see this humble Australian take the Yellow Jersey.

Well in an interview a few days back, Cadel meantion that the stage to would be the time to look at the GC riders. So here it is! I still think it’s to early to call and the Gods on two wheels have a long way to go in this years tour.

TDF 2008, Stage 5

Well the Tour De France is well under way, the first few days have been what we have all expected. I’m a huge fan of the there being no time bonuses in this year tour and of the completion of Stage 5 Cadel is currently well placed in the GC for his push for yellow. It’s too early to call the race at this stage as I’m sure a few young riders will be keen to show what they are made of in the first few mountain stages. In the end the men with experience should prevail. My pick for this year’s tour is Evans or Valverde, Menchov and Kirchen are other to watch. The Schleck brothers will play their parts I’m sure.

The following interview is with Cadel Evans before Stage 5 of the 2008 Tour De France.
