Sleeping in is Recovery

Well after the 90k stint the day before, my afternoon on and off the couch went to plan, got a bit done around the house, headed out to an engagement party and after a total of two beers, a couple of lemonades and the remainder of the night on the Soda Water I was amped to get on the bike in the morning.

Alarm sounds to be met by wet roads and rain. Not even the training bike goes out on a wet road. Soft… Mmmm, yes! Rolling over and getting a total of 10 hours sleep to aid in the recovery… priceless! All said and done the legs felt damn good considering the lack of training.

Instead of a road ride today I would mount the trainer again. Now not to get too technical, the science behind my training at this stage is simple. Make it hurt, coz it will at this early stage, then make it hurt some more. I’m happy to say I made the 1 hour planned today. Amazing… I know!

With the weather forecast looking grim with rain setting in for the next few days it’s just me and the trainer. Not a happy thought as I do like to hit the traffic infested roads.
