Bike Fit.

People, if you roll up to a bike shop or a cycling coach and they pull out the old “bikefitkit” measurement tools and pump the figures into the software don’t expect this to the natural fit for you. No two human bodies are the same, due to this simple fact you should seek the best solution to a bike fit. Being fitted correctly to your bike is a science not a software package that works out basic formulas and spits out a solution for your required position. In my experience I’d be asking a number of questions and reading as much information as you can before working on the bike fit. From personal experience as a tall rider I’ve found seeing my physiotherapist and ex-pro (a real pro with proof and experience) cyclist Leon Vogels was the answer. With one look and a proper anatomic assessment of my position I was putting the power with less effort.

It just aint coaching.

This is “NOT” Coaching. Lets see, you’ve been training hard for months to prepare for a race, as you’re fitness levels improve and the base has been set in stone, the time comes to work on strength, speed or power and a “coach” tells you to add 5-15% of your body weight into a backpack and train on the bike. As this is the year of 2007 and not 1958 (before the wall came down) Eastern Bloke training regime I’d prefer to see a scientific approach to training. Why not get in the gym and do a structured strength weights program. Attempt to read a modern training manual, if the athlete needs rest or to “taper” the athlete should know what’s right for then in the long run. It’s you’re body so listen to it! Bricks and Backpacks are “No School” not “Old School”.

Well I’ve come across this site and have found (if you have the bandwidth) it’s an awesome site to get an idea of what happens inside the pro teams. It’s made up of short video diarys by pro cyclists and invloves the teams that they race for. I’ve spent I while watching Lotto and CSC videos over the past few weeks.

Check it out TheBroadbandRacer.com
